Songland brings the heat
September’s edition of the Monthly Jamm features two songs that come from the NBC show, Songland. If you haven’t watched the show yet, I highly recommend it. The show connects A-list producers and musicians with songwriting talent from the general public. Â In addition to how awesome it is that “normal” people have the opportunity to get their song released by major musicians, the show highlights the touch that producers like Ryan Tedder, Esther Dean and Shane McAnally have. It’s incredible to watch the aspiring songwriters bring in their work and have these producers cut it up and play with it in real time. It’s the kind of talent that makes you wonder about things you’ve mastered; have you mastered anything the way Ryan Tedder’s mastered music?
September welcomes the return of Lana Del Rey, the All-American Rejects, the Lumineers, as well as newcomers Joji and Bo Baskoro. Keep a special ear out for Shadow, a Macklemore and IRO collaboration, and Young, from Old Dominion, two jams that got their start on Songland.
